Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. To read more about the RB programme, please go to www.responsiblebusiness.rezidor.com.
Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.
Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:
- Awarded Bronze Level of Manchester City Council Environmental Business Pledge. The Bronze Pledge recognizes our commitment to environmental compliance and participation in the city's annual Clean-Up Campaigns
- Every new hotel employee receives Responsible Business training during their induction, and then participates in extensive training annually.
- Radisson SAS Hotel Manchester Airport has been working very closely with Body Positive North West, this is a local community centre which supports families living with HIV, whether they are directly affected or are a friend, family member or partner. One main focus is the support of children and young people, the centre provides crèche facilities, swap shops and clothing for families with limited funds.

- Environmental and Clean up Days, teams from the hotel have been going out in the local community and helping organisations with cleaning bike paths, planting trees, shrubs and removing rubbish from the woodlands. The next event is in September 2006 where we will be working with the National trust to build fences.
- Recycling is very important to all departments within the hotel. Items include glass, papers, oil, Batteries and printer cartridges. A designated team member has been nominated to ensure conservation of water and electric by installing timers for lights in non essential areas, motion sensitive lighting, low energy bulbs, water cards in guest's bedrooms and constant testing of the dishwashers to ensure full water efficiency.
