Fuel your artistic passion

Nothing gets you in the mood to peruse some art or get hands-on in a workshop like a flat white and a gooey chocolate brownie. Luckily, the Bowery coffee shop offers both and more. This laid back cafe provides free Wi-Fi and there is always a good stock of magazines and daily papers to read while you relax. If you want to go a little more high-brow then dip into the contemporary art, design and architecture library for some inspiration.

The coffee shop has been listed as one of the top coffee shops in Britain by the Times newspaper. This is the kind of place you can ask to see the roast date of the beans in your java without receiving blank looks. They also serve a range of home-made products, from jams to chutneys, made by local resident Karen Guerney. Likewise, whether it's scones and pastries or soups, the Bowery coffee shop aims to buy local and seasonal.

Learn a new skill at a Bowery workshop
The Bowery run a whole host of adult evening, day and weekend workshops. Want to learn how to use that Digital SLR properly? Want to start writing your novel? Then book into a course at the Bowery. Painting, jewellery making, pattern cutting and bookbinding all feature on their list of 2014 courses. So resurrect your love of stitching or do something completely new, you never know where it will take you.
New parents will also love the #BYOB policy: Bring Your Own Baby. Little ones up to 8 months old are welcome to come along too.

Celebrate with a creative party
The Bowery is a great place for a party. Adults will love making a pair of knockout knickers, a fabulous fascinators hat, cupcake decorating, sewing customised bunting or crafting a piece of unique vintage jewellery. Or have a pre-party party and get together to create screen printed customised t-shirts for your event. A really sweet idea for mums to be is the patchwork quilt course. Each person appliqués a square with messages or an image and the whole thing is sewn into a keepsake quilt for baby by the course tutor.

Doin' it for the kids
The Bowery aims to provide a great learning experience for kids with stimulating creative parties, workshops and tuition. Kids can come away from a creative party with anything from a printed bag to a clay monster or a mosaic mirror. School holidays are a breeze with the Bowery art school classes for kids aged 6 to 11 years with activities specifically designed to stimulate their imaginations. Teens can sign up for the Fashion Academy and get into customising clothes and up-cycling items into jewellery.
