Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Rezidor Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and The World Childhood Foundation, the international charity organisation supported by the Rezidor Hotel Group. The mission of The World Childhood Foundation is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.

• An 'Improve Your Health' approach to use of service lifts.
• Energy shut-down process during nights, including lifts.
• Every hotel employee receives Responsible Business training on the first day of employment, with follow-up training every year thereafter.

• Healthy menus for children in hotel restaurants.
• Hotel hosts annual Glasgow Environment Day educational events for local students.
• Limitation on mono-packaging wherever possible. Encouragement of supply partners to support these initiatives through audits and regular checks on their environmental and social responsibility.
• Listing of healthy-option dishes on all hotel menus.
• Old blankets, duvets, unclaimed lost property donated to local charities.
• Organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified and Fair-trade coffee in use throughout the hotel.
• Recycling battery box at Concierge desk.
• Support of a local children's charity, "Glasgow Children's Holiday Scheme."
• The hotel underwent a Carbon Trust audit, which resulted in an action plan for areas of improvement.
