Discover the Wales Millennium Centre
First opened in November 2004, today it is difficult to imagine a time when the Wales Millennium Centre was not standing guard at Cardiff Bay. The stunning building is a result of an international design competition. The city received more than 268 applications and was eventually won by architect Zaha Hadid.
The Millennium Centre was originally earmarked to be the site of a new permanent home for the Welsh National Opera. However, the project eventually expanded to have a wider reach and now hosts everything from musicals to concerts, symphony orchestras, live theatre and dance in its calendar each year.
